Curt Smith hosts the syndicated "Perspectives" each Sunday at 7 A.M. and Tuesday at 11 p.m. from Rochester New York's National Public Radio affiliate WXXI (1370AM). The series is distributed to other NPR Stations in New York State. It features well-known local and national guests -- arguably the greatest galaxy of marquee names of any mid-size market in America.
Recent guests have included: Fox News TV's Fred Barnes; actor David Birney; CNN TV "Crossfire" co-host Tucker Carlson; Tony Award-winning choreographer Garth Fagan; Boston Red Sox president Larry Lucchino; syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin; Pulitzer Prize-winning author James McPherson; John Sununu, former White House Chief of Staff; and John Zogby, America's foremost pollster. Another recent guest, USA Today columnist Christine Brennan, calls Smith "the best interviewer in the business."
"Perspectives" succeeds recent series of Smith's on two 50,000 watt stations, Rochester's WHAM and Milwaukee's WISN. Former President George Bush was a past guest. Others included NBC broadcaster Bob Costas; ABC commentator and Newsweek columnist George Will; former U.S. Senator George Mitchell; economic commentator Louis Rukeyser; Fox News TV's Juan Williams; NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman; and former independent counsel Kenneth Starr.
"Perspectives" discusses all aspects of life that matter to Upstate New York and the Nation, including politics, the economy, health care, education, sports, and culture. It promotes dialogue, growth, and understanding. Listeners can enjoy what Upstate New York's Messenger-Post Newspapers call "Smith [being] all about ideas -- soliciting, sharing, discussing." They are encouraged to email Smith at [email protected].
