Curt, the WordSmith
Curt Smith is among America's leading authorities on politics and sports. He is a best-selling author, award-winning radio/TV commentator and talk host.

Curt currently hosts these programs:

  • "Perfectly Clear", a 30-minute weekly political and current events series (Rochester, NY CBS-TV affiliate WROC)
  • "Talking Point", a twice-weekly political series (WROC-TV)
  • Associated Press and New York State Broadcaster Association award-winning regular commentary (Rochester, NY NPR affiliate WXXI)
  • Regular baseball and broadcast series (Empire Sports TV Network - available nationally)

The author of eight books about sports and politics, Smith is currently working on two new books on baseball: Saturday in the Park (for release in 2001) and What Baseball Means to Me (for release in 2002). He has also written and co-produced three prime-time ESPN-TV documentaries based on his book, Voices of The Game.

A former Gannett reporter, The Saturday Evening Post senior editor, and former Presidential speechwriter, Curt wrote more speeches than anyone for 1989-93 President George Bush. He later hosted a smash Smithsonian series based on his book, Voices of The Game.

Curt was raised in Caledonia, in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York. He graduated cum laude from SUNY at Geneseo and was selected from more than one million graduates as one of "100 Outstanding Alumni of the New York State University System".

Curt is also the Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Rochester and a member of the Judson Welliver Society of former White House speechwriters. Says former President Bush, "Curt has a great ability to communicate well."
